German classical guitarist Nelly von Alven has already enjoyed an intensive performing career as a soloist and chamber musician. As a member of the NOVA Guitar Duo ( www.novaguitarduo.com ), she has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls, including London's Wigmore Hall, the Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York. In 2019, the Italian label Stradivarius released her first duo debut album "Sortilegios", which was described by Classical Guitar as "extraordinary - a duo with tremendous chemistry and synchronicity...highly recommended" and rated 5 stars by Rivista Musica.
With top marks, Nelly von Alven received her Bachelor of Music from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln and a Master of Performance with distinction from the Royal College of Music London. During her studies she received numerous awards and prizes at national and international competitions, such as the Twents Guitar Festival in the Netherlands, the International Guitar Festival Gevelsberg or the RCM Guitar Competition London. She was a scholarship holder of the Worshipful Company of Musicians London and Yehudi Menuhin's Live Music Now Foundation, for which she gave several workshops and outreaches.
In 2015, her first solo CD "Canto spirituoso" was released by Fibonacci Records. The album contains, among other things, several first recordings and original compositions with a focus on contemporary and Eastern European original music. In 2017, she performed Joaquin Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez with the Freie Sinfoniker Bielefeld at the Oetkerhalle Bielefeld and the British premiere of Germaine Tailleferre's Concerto for Two Guitars and Orchestra at the Britten Theatre London.
